Our dining table is a sore subject, primarily because things get stacked on it that shouldn’t be. Like the camera, mail, kid swimsuits. And ASL flashcards that we purchased for ourselves so we could learn and then teach the kids. One day, one of the kids saw the boxes and asked for “more”. And now, we can’t serve them a meal without doing sign language flashcards at the table. BUT HOW CUTE ARE THEY SIGNING?

So adorable? Did you take a class to with them to learn ASL or did you just teach yourselves and then teach the kids? I was considering signing up for a class but none of the time slots worked for us. I think it would be a great way to get my twins to express themselves – and we need to practice langauge development so this is another way to do that, too.
Thanks!!

@ Nicole – we didn’t take a class. Frankly, I wouldn’t if your intention is simply to learn/teach some basics. We have taught ourselves and have then taught/reinforced with the kids. We (along with the nanny) use signs in our daily lives and they’ve picked up on it.
Initially, we purchased the DVD/book/kit “Sign With Your Baby” by Joseph Garcia when I was still pregnant. We watched it. And it was okay. More useful has been the sign language flash cards we purchased. I’ll be reviewing/profiling those soon so be on the lookout!

Absolutely Adorable! I made my husband watch this since it is so cute and our 15 month old twin girls are also really getting into signing. His response was, “How are they not throwing those plates on the ground?” Impressive indeed.

I love this video. It’s so cute. And, how smart are the twins! If we ever have a little one, I really want to try sign language. At what age did you begin working with the cards?

Not only is that video adorable, it’s damn impressive, too! And we totally suffer from the same dining room table issues. It’s just so welcoming of piles of junk, you know?
